MAD MAX FURY ROAD
by TerryWalstrom ini went to see the new mad max movie last night: "fury road.".
this post-apocalyptic world is not recycled gray, it is blazingly colorful australian desert terrain with wide shots that will stop your heart.have you ever seen an heironymous bosch painting of hell with its where's waldo panoply of brutish, demonic, figures inflicting torments willy-nilly as far as the eye can see?
well, fury road makes bosch look like a knit-one-purl-two doily maker at a sunday brunch.. director miller has thought about this movie, planned it, sketched it, worked it, perfected it millisecond by millisecond before scene one was ever shot.one second of onscreen activity has more interesting business happening than two hours spent by a voyeur in a nudist colony of playboy bunnies.. what is watching this film all about?

"I cant wait to meet Abraham!"
by stuckinarut2 in"i can't wait to meet abraham" was the eager comment made by a young 7 year old witness girl.. when asked why, she said "because he was jehovahs friend, and he was even willing to kill his own son!".
this comment was said with joy and excitement!
she can't see the obvious issues with this?.

You ever been to a Star Trek or other type of fan convention?
The headliners have the long, long lines, while the supporting casts or other artists, etc, have pitifully small lines.
I have this picture in my head of a huge, miles long line of people wanting to meet Noah or Abraham, while down at the other table, you have people like Esther, or some leper that was healed by Jesus, wondering when they can go to lunch, because no one's coming their way.
Or, situations where Moses can't get a good kosher meal out anywhere, because people keep hounding him for his autograph. He has to hire bodyguards to protect him from the crush, and then his admirers will start saying, "Ol' Moe is getting too good to talk to us 'commoners'! I remember him when he was just some helpless kid in a raft of sticks. Where does he get off?" -

Went to a Catholic Funeral Today
by Captain Schmideo2 init was for a dear friend of the family that i have known all my life.now, bear in mind that i was born and raised jw, so my experience with catholic ceremonies can be counted on three fingers, a wedding, a "regular" mass, and this funeral mass.once they got down to the actual speaking about the deceased, i felt emotionally involved, but prior to that, i was watching and had questions about aspects of the services (these i have seen in common for all three times i have been in an rc church):why the "sing-song" voice during the prayers?
does god hear it better if you sound all spooky tenor?i observe that every time a reading from one of the gospels takes place, it is preceded by a big musical number:"alleluiah!
alleluiah"( "and nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's jesus!".

Mother In Law had surgery
by Captain Schmideo2 inafter she was prepped in the receiving area, a sister from the hall showed up to be their for support.
we said good bye to her, and started to leave, and the sister stops me and says, "did someone pray with her yet?".
so, (keeping in mind that i have not gone to a regular meeting in years!

Poor Dr. Oz is being persecuted for speaking the truth about the food we eat.
Actually, I was also told about things I would never in a million years thought I would hear, like setting up the internet and voice over IP phone lines at the Kingdom Hall. And all the travails of dealing with the equipment locking up after power outages in the neighborhood. When I asked if they had a battery backup to protect the equipment from things like this (a $50 dollar investment), it was like something he never even thought of.
He was also showing me how great it was that he could show the videos from the website on his tablet in the door to door work. I remarked that at least it's easier than carrying around a phonograph.
I suspect that Headquarters must love the use of this, since it ensures that the message THEY want to present at the initial contact at the door is exactly how they want it stated, and not how it must get bumble fumbled by average Joe Publisher in the old days. -

We said good bye to her, and started to leave, and the sister stops me and says, "Did someone pray with her yet?". So, (keeping in mind that I have not gone to a regular meeting in years!), we have to go back in, and I stumble out a very non inspired prayer, the gist of which was "give us strength during this time, but whatever happens, happens".
Now that the magic incantation was spoken, it was then alright for her to go into surgery.
Oh, the surgery went fine. Guess my mumbo jumbo must have worked! -

Once they got down to the actual speaking about the deceased, I felt emotionally involved, but prior to that, I was watching and had questions about aspects of the services (these I have seen in common for all three times I have been in an RC church):
Why the "sing-song" voice during the prayers? Does god hear it better if you sound all spooky tenor?
I observe that every time a reading from one of the Gospels takes place, it is preceded by a big musical number:"Alleluiah! Alleluiah"( "And Nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, Heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Jesus!".) I get "why" it's probably done, but "whew" what a time consumer. Reminded me of the bringing forth of the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
